Nine Marks of a Healthy Apartment

Having had many apartment and roomate experiences in our lifetimes,We thought it would be helpful to list the IX Marks of a healthy apartment for those whom are struggling or trying to find what a healthy apartment looks like. This is not the perfect apartment but as we have found out throughout our years of apartment living these marks contribute to healthiness in ones living experience.

1. Have Scott Ryan as your roomate (For those whom do not have Scott Ryan as your roomate, he is available for rent; we are also takeing interns to follow Scott around and model his roomate abilities)

2. Eat a steady diet of pizza. We suggest at least once a week. (Dominos 3 for 5$, Pizza hut 3 for 5$, CiCis all you can eat, or when you can splurge Fat Jimmies Buffet (Tito is highly recomended)

3. Have weekly prayer together.

4. Have a sufficient supply of Chips and Salsa.

5. Encourage one another.

6. Have a chore list. For those who don't do their chores they will be shunned. When apology for not doing chore is made and accepted restore to normal fellowship.

7. Cheer for the Big Ten.

8. Pay your Bills on time.

9. Celebrate every Saturday with song and dance. (We particularly do the "Mineana Esta Sabado", but you can be creative and develope your own celebration, just be sure to joyfully welcome in the weekend!)

In posting and encouraging these nine marks, we are not trying to lay down an exhaustive or authoratative list. There are other great marks of healthy apartments. We want to purse them as well along with you. But these nine marks are what we believe to be the most neglected in most local apartments today, with huge damaging concequences. Join with us in our journey of having healthy apartments.

Super (sleep )Cuts

So I went to get my haircurt today and it was quite eventful. I went in and the lady that was cutting my hair seemed really out of it and looked woosy. I didn't know what was going on. So I went and sat in the chair and she didnt even ask how I wanted it cut and just started. As she was snipping away she was kind of mumbling and knodding off and seemd to be falling asleep!! I was like what in the world is going on??? So she said to me that she was on a lot of cough medicine for allergies and stuff but I didnt know what to think, so I asked the other hairdresser if she would do my hair but then the lady doing my hair said she could still do it. Long story short, she did it and it is crazy short with kind of a mohawk look (yikes). I don't know what was in that cough medicine but I think my Supercut haircut days are over. Stay off the cough medicine while at work or dont go to work when takeing all that medicine especially when you have siccors and buzzers in your hands!

I NEED THEE

Poems are great. I never really liked to read poems untill a few years ago. I haven't read to many for awhile but I would like to read more and write more. I feel that writing poems is a great way to put in to words what flows from ones heart. I decided to share(if anyone reads this blog, ha) one of the poems I have written about a year ago.

I NEED THEE

Lost and alone gone far away;
Why did I choose to go astray?
The dark inside has come again;
The sins I left haunt me again;

What kind of soul is one like me?
The fruit I ate came from that tree;
The tree that you forbid me taste;
Yet I have ate and come to waste;

My soul is torn and broke apart;
I sigh and feel heavy of heart;
My tears of shame flow from my eye;
I feel as if my life’s a lie;

I find that death has come to me;
Yet in my blood you made me see;
When by your Call told me to Live!
True Joy is found to only give;
My soul, my heart, my everything;
To live for you the one true King;

Oh Lord’ draw me forevermore;
To come to that celestial shore;
Keep me O’ Lord from falling away;
So prone to wonder, to go astray;

I need thee Lord in every part;
I need thee Lord transform my heart;
I need thee Lord when all is through;
I need thee Lord you’ve made me new!

Adequate being Inadequate

Have you ever felt inadequate at what your doing? There are many people who take great pride in their attributes as to boast in their strength and skills. However, should we not realize that we are inadequate in all things. We are weak but God is strong. In our own strength we will surely fall. We must see ourselves as empty,weak,and needful people. I must be reminded that I can do nothing but by the grace of God.

Do you feel inadequate? In inadequacy through faith in Christ, Believers can rest in God's sovereign power working within them. Continually look to Christ who is supreme above all else, for when we look to ourselves despair inevitably follows. "Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God..."
2 Cor 3:5 (NASB)

Preach To Yourself

Tonight I got to go out and share the gospel around the Brownsborow Rd area. I went with John McClure and Pastor Janke from Clifton Baptist Church down to a park at some basketball courts a little ways from Clifton. After a little while of listening to John and Pastor Janke share with a couple people, I was able to talk with a guy named Shawn. After finding out where Shawn was comming from I shared with Shawn truths from the Bible that God is Holy, we are fallen, sin can not dwell in God's prescence and must be punished, Christ has fulfilled all righteousness, he bore our sins in his body on the cross, and he has rose from the dead and defeated death.

While talking to Shawn I was reminded of how important it is for us to preach the gospel to ourselves everyday. Everything that happens in our lives, the crazieness, depression, feelings of despair can overwhelm us but there is hope in the risen Christ. Thanks be to God for sending Christ to free us from the slavery of sin and death. This gives me much hope of eternal life and this night has reminded me to rejoice in such a great salvation that God has graciously and mercifully given to us sinners through faith in Christ. Praise be to God forever!

TAKE HEED

These are words I need to hear. I am thankful how God has used Spurgeon to speak and minister to the flock in his day and his words have greatly impacted me as well.

Depravity is so evident in my heart and I feel so prone to wonder from God at times. By his grace alone will I persevere to the end. I am reminded daily of how much I am dependent on him to strengthen me and uphold me through life.

May we pray for ourselves and for all of God's people to take heed and recieve strength to not fall into temptation but have eternity stamped on our eyes and exalt Christ in all our thoughts, actions and words.I hope these words encourage you as it has encouraged me to examine myself to take heed and always look to Christ, our only hope.

"I will take heed to my ways."—Psalm 39:1.

FELLOW-PILGRIM, say not in your heart, "I will go hither and thither, and I shall not sin;" for you are never so out of danger of sinning as to boast of security. The road is very miry, it will be hard to pick your path so as not to soil your garments. This is a world of pitch; you will need to watch often, if in handling it you are to keep your hands clean. There is a robber at every turn of the road to rob you of your jewels; there is a temptation in every mercy; there is a snare in every joy; and if you ever reach heaven, it will be a miracle of divine grace to be ascribed entirely to your Father's power. Be on your guard. When a man carries a bomb-shell in his hand, he should mind that he does not go near a candle; and you too must take care that you enter not into temptation. Even your common actions are edged tools; you must mind how you handle them. There is nothing in this world to foster a Christian's piety, but everything to destroy it. How anxious should you be to look up to God, that He may keep you! Your prayer should be, "Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe." Having prayed, you must also watch; guarding every thought, word, and action, with holy jealousy. Do not expose yourselves unnecessarily; but if called to exposure, if you are bidden to go where the darts are flying, never venture forth without your shield; for if once the devil finds you without your buckler, he will rejoice that his hour of triumph is come, and will soon make you fall down wounded by his arrows. Though slain you cannot be; wounded you may be. "Be sober; be vigilant, danger may be in an hour when all seemeth securest to thee." Therefore, take heed to thy ways, and watch unto prayer. No man ever fell into error through being too watchful. May the Holy Spirit guide us in all our ways, so shall they always please the Lord.
